June 8, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – Fighting in Sudan’s flashpoint state of South Kordofan has rumbled on for the third consecutive day, forcing the UN to suspend operations and sparking both domestic and international concerns.

Meanwhile, tension has been exacerbated after a local official of north Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party (NCP) was assassinated on Monday amid reports that hundreds of people have fled fighting in the state’s town of Kadugli.

The UN Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) on Tuesday reported that six people were killed in Kadugli as a result of clashes between elements of north Sudan army, Sudan Armed Forces (SAF), and those of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), the military wing of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), which controls South Sudan.

"There has been continued gunshots heard in the town itself today... The fighting is between elements from the SAF and the SPLA," AFP cited Hua Jiang, spokeswoman for the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS), as saying.

According to the UN official, they saw six dead bodies at the hospitals they visited, four of them were of government police and the other two are civilians.

She also said that they saw about 3,000 people taking refuge at the Kadugli police hospital.

Fighting in South Kordofan, one of Sudan’s heavily militarized zone, erupted on Sunday after SAF tanks rolled into the center of Kadugli town after unidentified gunmen reportedly attacked a police station in the area and stole a stash of weapons.

The oil-producing state has been in a state of tension since the result of its legislative and gubernatorial elections was declared in May, awarding the state’s governorship to the NCP’s candidate Ahmad Haroun over the SPLM’s candidate Abdul Aziz Adam al-Hilu whose party rejected the results alleging fraud.

Meanwhile, sources have told Sudan Tribune that UN agencies had suspended their operations in Kadugli and evacuated a large of number of its staff from the city center.

The same sources also reported that unidentified gunmen had ransacked one of the SPLM new offices in Kadugli and robbed all the furniture therein. The sources went on to say that the city’s streets were rife with vehicles laden with heavy weapons and that members of regular forces were rushing to stop any person suspected of being involved in the clashes.

Sudan Tribune’s sources also said that the chairman of the NCP’s branch in South Kordofan’s locality of Buram, Kabti Kuku, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his house on Monday evening.

The head of the NCP’s sector in South Kordofan, Jalal Taor, told Sudan’s official news agency SUNA on Tuesday that the situation was currently bad after all markets in Kadugli closed down and residents stayed indoors. However, he later added that the situation improved on Tuesday despite the fact that gunshots were heard in the morning.

South Kordofan’s fighting has also sparked concerns by Sudan’s opposition forces and the US state department, with both calling for immediate cessation of hostilities.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the coalition of mainstream opposition parties in north Sudan expressed concern over continuation of the fighting and deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the state.

The opposition coalition called for “immediate stoppage of the fighting and the exercise of self-restrain by all sides.”

“All political forces call on the NCP to respond immediately to the demand for cease-fire,” the release said.

US State Department spokesman Mark Toner on Tuesday told reporters that Washington was “deeply troubled” by reports of violence in South Kordofan.

"Unilateral military actions that prejudice the outcome of negotiations on future political and security arrangements for Southern Kordofan and neighbouring Blue Nile state must cease immediately."

SPeople of Southern Kordofan and Southern Blue Nile must not allow their region to be turned into battle field by SPLA/M syndicates to fight their meaningless war with SAF friends, because they are the one that will be affected badly by the war given that their region borders northern Sudan and thus accessible by SAF just like Abyei.

To Failure Northern opposition, I don`t believe there anyone like you come to loot and destroy Sudan again even USA itself doesn`t support your returning to power because Sudan is better without you looters and pro-Western World, you are just a bunch of corrupt and looter just SPLM. if not because you were toppled by El Engaz of NCP Sudan would not have seen something called peace at and North Sudan would not have developed the way it is right now, keep quite and learn the job is being done on the ground.

USA must advise its SPLA/M militia tKJKI restrain from violent and hurge the militia to seek peaceful solution to the problems. otherwise, we, the people united Sudan will add USA into the list of the countries that Support and train and arm terrorists, just like France and the UK that are terrorising Libyans of his his excellency the only African hero el seid Mahmer El Gadhfi God protect him from evil and terrorist group called NATO led by two colonial powers namely Uk and France that are bombarding him now because he refuses to let his oil being looted the by those axes of evil such as Franca and Engeltra or the so-called UK.

African Union! that is a big joke to the world. shame on you bunchs of selfcentred cowards. where is the African pride if we can let NATO terror group to bomb and destroy Lebyia in our watching? Yes, Gadhfii has been there for longer enough but that does not allow them to destroy the country like that. I wish I was leader so that I can back up Mahmer El Gahdafi. Arab are not helping Gahdafi because he proudly reognises himself as African. God bless Ledyia and finish his foes. Africa is additional thus God must destroy that prideless and cursed continent out of the
    world`s Map.

Supporter of North, the African pride is the one you northern Sudanese semi Arabs want to destroy by killing all the African sudanese and bring in Palestinians on the hope to inter marry with them and change your colour so as to get acceptance from the true Arabs of middle east and north Africa. Well, British is your former master and still have a say and if they see that you terrorizing the natives, they with Americans would not close their eyes and let you go on rampage.

The Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile peoples have to defend themselves and their only defense is their SPLA/SPLM but you like always would try to link them with the southern Sudan SPLA:SPLM just to under mind their cause and grievances but that will not work, the international community is watching. It is not your golden days where you people do things in darkness, the international lights have been directed unto you because they know what you people are capable of doing? You are being watched day and night.

        Marco

Arab were free while we, the black people were being enslaved by white.
Arab were well organized when we were roaming the bush chasing the wildlife or game and raiding each others cattles.

In Sudan slave trade was active in South, East and West Sudan where we were stolen from our jungle by white people and sold in slave markets in America and Europe.

So, Arab were free but we were not and even your slaves name Marco says it all.

Supporter of North AKA of Naath, what you forgot though is those so called Arabs in Sudan were slaves who run from their other stronger Arab tribes and you were called Mamaliks and of course you know what the word Mamluk means in Arabic but if you have difficulty translating it into English, then I will help you with that. Mamluk means possessed in English which is an equivalent word for slave and Mamaliks is the pulural of Mamluk and which means slaves.

All in all, if you think slave is equal black or black is equal to slave, then, mr. Nonsense Bin whatever, you ate wrong.

It is true that those Mamaliks who ran from Middle East during their medieval tribal wars where stronger tribe enslaves those captives of weaker tribe unfortunately came to Africa for refuge but instead, forgot why they were driven to Africa and started betraying the very people who gave them their food and daughters and got encumber in slave trade.
What you missed Mohammed Bin whatever, AKA supporter north AKA Naath is our sisters and brothers that were stolen by you evil people were taken either Europe, US or South Africa and some ended up in Middle East.

    Dear Readers,

I waited for Mohamed Ali to comment on what is going on in Kadugli since he insisted yesterday that there is no fighting in southern Blue Nile. Now it seems that his conclusions are false, though I assumed he was logical enough he is following the footsteps of the NCP spreading lies. War is not good to either Sudan or South Sudan, it is a responsibility of the stakeholders to adhere to peace process not to encourage war. SAF should negotiate how weapons in southern Kordofan and Blue Nile be handle in a peacefully way considering the future of the soldiers holding them. Illogical conclusions can jeopardize the future of each State (Sudan, South Sudan), so let’s discourage war in each country and seek peaceful means to solve internal and external problems. SAF stop invading regions under the CPA and adher to political solutions. I condemn unilateral move to occupy the regions that CPA has forbidden to be taken by any arm military either SAF or SPLA.

With your names corresponding with what will soon or later happens to you, I am welcoming your genocide after declaration and we shall all see who will be the looser.
Have I heard you saying that Dinkas likes food? What a shameless statement from a scared headed man! How will you discribe Dak Duop, Riek Gai, Tang, Mabior Dhel, Gatdet, Gatluak Gai, Cibitek, Kuol, Young Monytuel, Matip and all you local youth who always die after other peoples’ properties? I guess you aren’t sufficiently informed. They are after food and that is very authentic. However, all your claims of liberation are unjustifiable.

We will not kneel before you idiots, you must learn from the past.

Your reaction is right, people think we Nuer are stupid because we always follow other people, like now Nuer are still being divided between SPLA and SSLA. it is going to be like when we divided ourselves between SPLA of Dinka and A2. If we do not agree and unite to work as Team then we will never succeeed. We must love one another and support one another too for us to be successful. Like Now what make us to hold onto that tribal militia called SPLA while they are killing our innocent Nuer civiliians. let us pull out of it and joint Gaddiet in SSLA.

It is a lie, Im not a Dinka but they are my brothers and sisters to my knowledge, Dinka don’t like fighting not coz they’re cowards but coz they’re peace makers. Dinka fight you all the way till you look at him by your salty tear no, no way. Pliz learn how to be friends with people and leave what you hope to be safe. Fighting doesn’t help at all but if you think, try it at your own risks.

        Mr.Supporter of Naath cause,
I would at first like to give you a hand claps and thank you a lot for your meaningful comments, you had made about how disunited your community is.Unity is a strength, said Mzee jommo Kenyatta.i wish your community should have a good coherent relationship among each other such that you can easily distinguish right from wrong, instead of supporting everything at random.I personally support the idea of being united under one voice rather than your being groaned with different/varying voices.which cannot merge to one target you wish you are aiming at.

I believed that there are many/majority Nuer who are good leaders or citizens. And who can certainly bring good inspirations to our Nation[ south Sudan ].But Those good citizens and leaders are being spoiled by notorious and goofy people of interests who don’t care about those good citizens or leaders within their community as well, only lust/or long for personal gain. But when things get worse, they don’t even care about those whom they had used for gain.

Please, i hereby encouraging you to start preaching unity in your community.this will basically restore the bad image which is/has been inflicted on you by those renegade people.
If you and others sit down together with a strong determinations aiming for a true unity in a polite manner,i think you can win the majority who were stranded but need change or peace. This could also help you to reduce trampling among your community[ies] and others or neighbors.

Point of disagreement.I disagree with you on how you concluded your comment by supporting SSLA, your baseless a gent of interest groups who are not only Nuer but mixed fools and blind spots people from different communities of South Sudan, who are just being use by our main enemy of all times[ Arabs ].Please relief your mind from such murky movement,it’s a dead end movement.they are just loitering around and about like LRA of uganda who just killed people at random from uganda and South Sudan for no reasons. That’s not how you fight democracy,it’s inhumane acts/treatment of our innocent citizens regardless of their tribes,we are one people. We feel the same pains, relieved and resisted together. So my friend,SPLA/M is not a militia or dinka but it’s an army of all Southern sudanese which consisted with all tongues and tribes under one cause.that’s freedom fighters and defenders of our beloved nation or country, such that we can live in peace and harmony and be prosperous. All we need is prosperity not gluttonist’s wars.

If SPLA/M was a militia or dinka, then why did the Nasir faction called themselves SPLA/M-Nasir Faction? You can clearly see into it that the name SPLA/M is not a problem to us but our very leaders who wrestled against each other with varying interests or ideologies and still maintain the theme SPLA/M.Why?
Dr.Lem Akol is opposite or opposed SPLA/M ideologies and broke away but he still maintaining its identity as SPLA/M.Why?

Here is my quotation from Dr.john Garang’s speech, thus Once we Joined in together into SPLA/M,we have to forget our tribal mindsets because the SPLA/M is the only tribe[ our tribe ] we belong to.Friend,SPLA/M is where all our tribes intermingled with each other. Most of us have friends from different tribes because of our SPLA/M cause.

We need to refrain and forget our ancient ways of living which was full of murky situations. We are now entering into civilization to be like how the world is enjoying themselves. But the question is how can we achieve civilization if we are still living our lives backwards?

The SPLAs are the sons and daughters of those civilians, how can they just killed their relatives for no reasons or cause? The civilians are always the cause of these messes but the SPLAs acted in self defense. Why did the SPLAs soldiers killed civilians in Lakes state last year? It’s because those civilians attacked the SPLA barrack first when they heard that they are going to be disarmed by the SPLA.Yes some drunken SPLA Soldiers may/ can caused havoc but they are punished according to military laws [ marshal laws ].

Peter Gadet’s movement is a dead end route to self interest under the pretext of corruption which he was and is now doing.
Don’t support things caused by any renegade if you are a sound minded person who can deter truth from false or right from wrong. You need to support your true and good leaders such that the rest will learn and change their renegade attitudes rather than insulting your good leaders whom the people of South Sudan support because of the love of our country being seen in them. You guys need to support Maale migua than koor midong. Before 1991 faction came in,who got problems with who?

In my community we are taught with these:
        * Respect ourselves and others
        * Accept our wrong doings
        * Judge the problems to have better understandings before
you jump in without knowledge of the situations concerned
        * Be a problem solver in your generation
        * Be a peace maker and unionist
        * Be a counselor
        * Be helper and a giver
        * be kind and honest to people
        * show the love of your country
        * Don’t long for things which are not yours
        * And more importantly be a strong leader[ doesn’t mean dictatorship ] and remember all the times to reflect your leadership values and etc.

Friends, if we are brought up like that manner as from the above mentioned values,i think we can have less troubles or problems within us.

Dear citizens, especially youth like me let’s drive away tribalism, hatred and many other conditions which draws us back such that we can remain united with one loud voice than having a hoax/coarse voices.
