June 26,2012 ( JUBA) - Malik Agar, the leader of the Sudanese rebel alliance, the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF), on Tuesday said capabilities of the Sudanese people compounded by the growing networks seeking constitutional reforms and change will "depose" the Khartoum government.

"I do not doubt the capabilities of the Sudanese people to depose Bashir. They have demonstrated these capabilities in the past. They refused similar governments and removed them,” Agar said on Tuesday during an interview with Sudan Tribune.

He explained that the government in Khartoum "does not value the life of the people."

Sudan is witnessing since some two weeks a growing protest movement in protest to soaring inflation, rising prices of food and other essential commodities and new austerity measures to make up for a huge budget deficit in Sudan.

Initially started by Khartoum University students, the demonstrations are taking place in different Sudanese towns despite detention and torture of protesters by the security services.

He countered news reports quoting Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir describing protests as "bubbles” limited to number of opposition supported members and networks of “disgruntled political leaders."

"The protests have spread to several places across the country. If you have been following recent events in the country, you find that over the last six days, ordinary citizens have joined the protests and demonstrations. They went out in major cities in the country. They came out in Madani, in Sinar, in Shendi, in Port Sudan, in El-Obeid in Alhasahisa and elsewhere. Because they need reform and change," Agar explained.

The SRF is a coalition between the rebel groups that fight Khartoum in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile, including: Justice and Equality Movement (JEM); Sudan Liberation Movement/Army - Abdel Wahid (SLM-AW/SLA-AW); Sudan Liberation Movement/Army - Minni Minnawi (SLM-MM/SLA-MM); and rebels from South Kordofan and Blue Nile States: Sudan People’s Liberation Movement - North (SPLM).

Agar said that members of opposition political parties joined the protests on June 22, after Friday prayers in Omdurman, Buri and Khartoum North.

As part of the government’s efforts to address this deficit, a plan was announced in early June to lift fuel and sugar subsidies. At the same time, taxes were increased on other essential commodities. These measures have already started to negatively impact the population, particularly the poor.

The austerity package includes downsizing of the government’s bureaucracy as well as cuts in the salaries and perks of senior state officials in order to make up for a budget deficit of US$2 billion.

Agar charged security forces of acting in collaboration with police of using excessive force to break up protests at universities throughout Sudan during protests in December 2011 and that, "this pattern has continued in the current protests."

That’s true Sudanese people have that capability of deposing military dictators and the history has written that. But the real problem is that, there are so many dictators and opportunists being military generals or sectarian Imams who just wait for an opportunity to steal people’s revolutions whenever they occur.

The Key for a solution to all Sudan’s problems being a system of government, the country identity, economic or regional and international relationships is with Malik Agar and Abdulwahid Nur. If the sectarian leaders with their sons in the army are going to deny Agar and Nur in this revolution, Agar must call it a NIF2 and the struggle continue.

Agar has been fighting? The guy is too fat to fight. Rather he has been spending the large salary given to him by SPLM/A to travel abroad and stay in 5 stars hotels in London, USA and other world capitals enjoying the good food, hence the obesity, whilst leaving the fighting and dying to the poor uneducated and misguided sudanese citizens.

      Jalaby,
Malik Agar is very right that the Sudanese people alone can bring down Beshir and this shall be the end of appraising in Darfur, Nuba Mountains and Southern Blue Nile. The Sudanese people has a right for freedom of expression and democracy. Leave alone the Isalamist Jalaby way of governance which is full of moral decadence.

lol, give up. 1% of sudan population = 300,000 people. demonstrators reach between 20-30 thousand all over Sudan. they are only close 1/10 of that 1% of Sudan total population. where is the rest of the 30 milion people?

In libya more than halve the population was anti gaddafi, in syria about 45% of people are anti assad. In sudan they even fail to reach 1%? and expect Bashir to fall

Certainly Sudanese are capable to depose Bashir what worries me are the extinct dinasours that tend to resurrect themselves and reap the fruits after the battle has been fought and won,on a personal level Iwill choose Agar overTurabi,Sadig and Merghani and all the current opposition Adelwahid and Menawi included.

Its no use giving facts and figures to convince these idiots, because you can’t, they don’t care. Their hearts are so full of hate and their minds are looking for vengeance and destruction that nothing will get through to them.
To the Sudanese public, If you want to know what is good for you, look for which political figure or party the South supports and avoid like..con

South Kordofan state, and Blue Nile state need to tell United Nation for their states to join South Sudan Government because they are Southern Sudanese blood that was why they joined South Sudan brothers and sisters to fought North Sudan. Malik Agar has a chance to become a President for Republic of South Sudan State if United Nation give their states chance to join South Sudan.
