February 2, 2012 (JUBA)- Peter Kuot Jel, minister of physical infrastructure in the state of Northern Bahr el Ghazal welcomed his dismissal from his ministerial portfolio, saying it was time for another person to serve in the state government.

Jel was dismissed on Tuesday after holding the position since June 2010. He thanked his colleagues for the time he spent working with them.

“Change is a good thing” said Jel on Tuesday, adding that it was an opportunity for “other gifted Aweilians to offer services to Aweilians”.

Jel was among officials affected the gubernatorial order relieving his political advisor, Jal Malith Jal. Other officials, including Tong Akeen, minister of health were affected by the order.

Yel Deng Nguel, a security advisor and food security advisor was the first to welcome his dismissal from the advisory portfolio on Tuesday. He was relieved along with Ismail Ibrahim Ahmed, an advisor on food security to the state governor.

However, as Ahmed was reported to have died several months ago, his removal from post was presumably a matter of procedure.

No reasons were made for the firings but supporters have attributed the cause of the dismissal to political rivalry over loyalty to the state governor and the leadership of South Sudan’s ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in the state.

Others, including the Minister of Physical Infrastructure were relieved of their position due to poor performance. The state legislate assembly in October passed a vote of no confidence in him, arguing that he has repeatedly failed to measure up to expectations of the public.

Mr. Kuot, we are really happy with the step you took by welcoming governor’s decree of relieving you from ministerial post. We are proud to have people like in Aweil and change is not bad is a processes of giving chance to others whom are stranded down to get jobs.To us you are very briliant and potential person in which we will not be forgotten you though the one who change forgets you.

I think the scholars understand your language Ngor Arol. I really appreciate Mr. Kuot for his professionally response. Peter Kuot is educated person and should hold position in South Sudan govt or Aweil govt any time due to his excellent behaviors as a well informed and educated person. We need this kind of person who don’t like to betray his country for self interest.

Yes MR minister should welcome the decision taken because every educated man knows that there are so many doors for his Survival unlike illetrates. Here in our government the system is, every official act like a king in his/her unit. What doubt me here is why the State minister of finance wasn’t been relieved from his post and he was too out voted by the State Assembly. To me all deserve send off.

    Dear Readers,

Iam very impressive to hear that Mr. Tong AKen refused to work with the current government of NBeG because of some reasons he knows very well, that is what we term to be laying down of oneself principles.
Peter Kuol Jel, would rather resigned to give chance to other as he was saying he welcome the firing but instead to resigned, he remarks is not even appreciated by me
