January 12, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – An unknown Sudanese group has claimed it has scorched 5000 acres of government-owned sugar-cane farms in central Sudan as a declaration of rebellion against the northern government in Khartoum, in yet another sign of the growing domestic volatility as the country hurtles towards a likely breakup.

The group, which dubs itself “the Revolutionary Front of the Central Province – Battalions of Sons and Youth of Farmers” on Wednesday issued a statement saying it had started a new rebellion in Sinnar State in central Sudan. The group claimed it had set aflame 5000 acres of sugar-cane farms owned by the Sudanese Sugar Company.

However, the group’s claims could not be independently verified nor confirmed by the central government.

The group’s statement, which was dated 9 January to coincide with the beginning of south Sudan referendum vote, accused the Khartoum government of “systematically marginalizing” the central province which also holds the Jazzirah project for producing cotton. It further warned that such marginalization “leaves no other choice but confrontation.”

Sudan is facing a likely breakup as a result of the ongoing referendum vote on the independence of south Sudan region, the vote was promised in a 2005’s peace deal that ended nearly two decades of north-south civil war.

The group’s statement further described the burning of sugar-cane farms as “a direct evidence” of their battalions’ ability to “elicit the rights of our people by all possible means.”

According to the group’s statement, the central province never enjoyed sustainable development and suffered from the “misguided policies of privatization” which turned “a national project into a parasite project.”

The group also blamed the government for what it called the general deterioration in public service and prevalence of financial corruption.

“The spark of the revolution to right the wrongs in the central province has started,” said the statement, warning that the revolution will extend to include every part of the region’s soil.”

Where will Bashir and his NCP elites go to after Gezira state has declare war against NCP policies in North? It time for Mr. Bashir to tuck his knickers and ran to Suadia Arabia or else face the consequences of his marganilsation policies. Next to wage war of rebellion is Blue Nile state and Nuba Mountains. It time for all Sudanese to wake up and demand their rights from these hypocrites coloured Africans in Central Sudan who calls themselves Arabs.

mr Abendigo don’t laught like that, because any distabalization in the North it means our independent is going to be a dream. We better thank al bashir for his courageous decision to let south go.By the way central sudan is the immediate neighbours of the south where oil is.
Our president Kiir made it right by chasing away the Darfur rebels from south. Please remember if you throw people with stone don’t expect them to throw at you flowers or spray you with perfume.

I really do love your comment but, unfortunately, I don’t know the meaning of word “kwete.”
For me, I’m greatly exciting to see war erupting in the North. Now, its time to Let those terrorist fighting themselves in the north, while its time for us to start build south- Sudan.
Thak you brothers for well done job.

It has never been a dream of South Sudanese people to wish North Sudanese people bad but all the South wish is to have a peaceful co-existence with its North Sudan as neighbour country (Dr. Riek Machar’s movement motto, Self-determination for South Sudan)or live within a peaceful united new Sudan govern by SPLM rules that base on secularism(Dr. John Garang’s movement motto, NEW SUDAN)

What going on in central Sudan is unfortunate even at the wrong time. We sudanese longed for peace and developement. We need to stop all those aimless wars and start developing would be our COUNTRIES (South and North). NCP will be challenged by leading parties in the South Sudan, in fact SPLM has already shown the fact that Secularism is the best by exhibiting relatively free speech in Southern Sudan.

I think the bad thing will be if that rebellution is a direct action of other North Sudan parties as this means they will confront SPLA when they over thrown the NCP because the courgous move NCP made to let South go is one of the downside Sadiq, his cousin and brother-in-law hold Bashier responsible for.

NCP should step up the process of demacation of the border with the South Sudan so that the South should stop those central Sudan rebels use its land to attack its neighbour North legally else the rebel will roam arround between Souh and North without problem.

The new rebelled group is overshadowing their jeopardy of our CPA. They are trying to let the war errupt everywhere in Sudan. I call this act as jealousy. South is getting independence by any mean. Let them shred the north, not south.

Sudan regime had created wars for survival that it can handle any more. Bashir and his cronies should roll up their sleeves and face the reality and consequences of marginalization otherwise all development in Khartoum will be set ablaze in few months to come and all so called Arabs will be languishing in a desert in Egypt and Libya as refugees.
All these rebels whether in the west, east and central should combine their military mights and launch a devasting attacks on Al Bashir and cronies in Khartoum.
Arabs days are numbered in Sudan.

They will face consequences of their short sighted policies.

How many wars is Bashir going to fight? Darfur, Central Sudan, South sudan, Abyei and even at his own courtyard. That is too much for him and he should allow Darfur to come out like south Sudan if he wants to live.

This is how Arabs behave and that is why there are always chaos and suicide attempts in Arabs countries.

Dear Southerners are you see what on this rebellion against Al Bashir leadership government in Khartoum this is nonsense because how many years that those unknown group are there and they are keeping quite but today when they see us that we are almost to recieving our full independent then they are wake up and say we are marginalize also that is totally nonsense. so what I see from them the want president Bashir to fear not to allow South to go so that we Southerners citizen will continue making bricks for them in Sinnar and other odd job as their slave. look at them they are name themselves "unknown Sudanese group". why their leader does not declare himself? so we Southerners we will not support them a total this is a propaganda of northern tactic let them go to Egypt, Lybia or other to seek their support apart from Southern Sudan

This is a morbid hatred, which is showes a very sick mentality.Nobody in the north expresses happiness for the suffering of any other human being.

To burn the farms of the farmers and to claim to defend their rights is rediculous.

Sudan is not going to be affected by such a minor incident, particulary in Algazira people are well educated and civilized and they will stop such rubbish and leave you to die with your hatered.

      Dear Mohamed Ali,
      I am a notherner too,

But I advise you not to reply to such silly comments..have you ever heard of a rebel group that starts its rebellion by setting fire on some acres of corn?
These people like lies and isolated incidents like this..the North will never be as they want.. it is a wish of a black heart..i really support that the South goes its own way but not on basis of lies we hear everyday

Likewise, not every one in the South expresses happiness when any other human being suffers! Just revisit my posted comment on this news. I was very short commenting on the article. I said that the authenticy of the group claim might be needed! I gree with those who say you can’t start a legitimate rebellion by simply setting a fire on the farms! That is termed as a sabotage move. When the first Southerners mutinied against the then system in Khartoum on 18/08/1955, they hit hard on the government forces. The same repeated itself in 1973 in Akobo rebellion and in 1983 in Bor rebellion.

Moreover, I have never come across any nation or country that could be generalized as having a very sick mentality. Yes I could say I have come across some nations or countries that could be regarded as having a morbid hatred against single nation. Hatred of Palestine and Arab nations towards Jewish is beyond morbid brother Mohammed!

Furhtermore, I don’t deny huge hatred of people in the South against their brothers in the North. All of us know the root causes of this hatred. However, I personally regarded it as a temporary one. It will definitely disappear with creation of their own state soon.

    Hey there folk!
this is an other pain in the ass to the notorious
(NCP) hope the face it and deal with its consequences.

The baddest thing is, i wonder how they are going manage confronting all those rebels factions up in the north...matter of fact their divid and rule policies has greatly brought all these messes to the country.

It’s some sort of unhealing wound anyways and it needs special remedies to get cured....

What i am driving at is that the (NCP) must step down and give chances to other parties to transform the country with new fresh vision and tranparency that would pave ways and oppotunities to all the marginalized folk up in the north other wise is gonna be disaster if they are clinging to their outdated greedy-rules.

However, i don’t actually condemn the rebel upsurge...i would personally wish them good luck in determining their demands and right just likewise the way we are as southerners....nothing is easy to achieve without one’s sacrifices and thank.
