NCP talks with SPLM-N 2011-2013 NCP talks with SPLM-N 2011-2013
The SPLM-N and three Darfur rebel groups, who formed the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) rebel alliance one year, vow to topple the National Congress Party (NCP) regime of President Bashir and to work for a secular and democratic regime providing large autonomy to the different regions of the country.
The rebel alliance refuses partial peace deals with the government, saying a holistic process handling all Sudan’s regional conflicts and leading to end of the oppressive regime in the country is the best solution.
However, the UN Security Council last May passed a resolution calling on the SPLM-N and Sudanese government to engage in talks to settle their armed conflict that started in June 2011 in South Kordofan followed by Blue Nile in September of the same year.
The SPLM-N have expressed doubts over Sudan’s seriousness to implement the humanitarian deals they signed in February and August 2012. African Union mediation is expected to summon the Sudanese parties for a new round of talks in November 2012 in Addis Ababa.
