Lakes State Lakes State

Lakes State is the only state in South Sudan that does not have an international border. South Sudan plans to build its new capital Ramciel in Lakes state due to its central location. Lakes State borders Unity, Warrap, Western Equatoria, Central Equatoria and Jonglei states.

The Lakes State parliament has 49 members representing eight counties. Two MPs are independent candidate who won elections in Wulu County in 2010.
