Name: Kamal Mohamed Obeid, MP
Position: Chairman of the defense and security committee the Sudanese National Assembly.
Political Affiliation: National Congress Party.
Career: Obeid became Sudan’s State Minister at the Ministry of Information and Communications replacing Farah Ibrahim Aggar on 10 December 2007.
Obeid was selected to the NCP’s negotiating team for talks with the SPLM-N rebels in South Kordofan and Blue Nile because he was one of the few figures in the ruling National Congress Party who sought to build amicable relations with Yassir Arman and Malik Agar during the 2005-2011 interim period of the Comprerehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), where officials from the two parties only had contacts official meetings.
